This is a 1-Gallon Odor-Free Countertop Kitchen Compost Bin that comes in either red or white ceramic. The lid has a charcoal filter in it to help prevent odors from escaping, and the one gallon size makes it ideal for use in the kitchen.
Small kitchen composting scraps such as eggshells, coffee grounds, tea bags, and chopped up fruit or vegetable peelings fit quite nicely into this one gallon size.
The crock is 8 x 8 x 10.5 inches in size and weighs 5 pounds. Many people are able to throw a wide variety of kitchen compost scraps into this countertop compost bin for a whole week before emptying it out into a larger outdoor compost pile or bin.
The composting crock is extremely attractive, and that’s one of the most enjoyed aspects of this particular unit. It looks really nice on the kitchen counter. It has a stainless steel carrying handle but most people report that’s one of the weakest points of the compost pail. When you pick it up to carry it outside, the handle easily comes off on one side and many people have reported being worried that they’ll drop their kitchen compost all over the floor when they’re trying to carry this crock out to empty it.
Other reviewers have stated that since this compost crock is ceramic, it’s actually harder to clean than a stainless steel compost bucket would be. The ceramic material tends to stain easily and must be scrubbed well at times.
The other problem with this compost pail being made of ceramic is that it’s much more fragile than a plastic or metal bucket. The ceramic can chip and crack easily and of course if you drop it then it may break completely.
